Drawing of Hazelwood SchoolHazelwood School: Completed

We have had no issue with the school itself, our issue is with the complete lack of consultation by Sir Robert McAlpine Construction with The Tenants of Dumbreck Court or with Mosspark Housing Association on matters affecting the tenants and residents of our community.
Our first issue with this construction company was over their workforce dropping large amounts of litter throughout Dumbreck Court, it became so bad we had to call in the Clean Glasgow section of the City Council and Mosspark Housing, with them both in attendance we met with McAlpine's Site Manager Paul McCrorey to insist this littering be stopped he agreed to put out bins to be used by his workforce (he did not do this) he instead let the littering continue but sent two men out twice a week to clean it up which is not the same thing?

Our second Issue was over our car parks that McAlpine built for Dumbreck Court in the land exchange for the compound in order that they could gain access to the area the school would be built on.  McAlpine delayed finishing the car parks the reason for this seems to have been that they intended using them as a storage facility. The Tenants objected to this in the midst of their community and a meeting with Education Services including Health and Safety
and of course McAlpine was arranged and during which they apologised for their lack of consultation with the tenants and housing association, and agreed to move it within ten days I asked them for an assurance that "no new material would be stored there" and was given that assurance (as we discovered they did not have any intention of keeping this promise) the reason? well thats our third issue...

In my opinion everyone involved in the construction of Hazelwood School knew that given the restrictions of the site and in order to complete the access road leading into the school the hutting/offices Toilets and Generator would have to be moved to another location, and that location turned out to be the supposedly unfinished car park between our blocks of flats in the heart of our small community. This move will allegedly take place on the 23 July.
When we objected to this breach of trust and reminded them of their agreement with us, we were told the car park belonged to McAlpine until it was handed over, and they could use it however they saw fit.  And still we tried to be reasonable, we offered and excellent alternative that would reduce the danger and inconvenience to tenants and residents, the north car park could be used with no objections but this was dismissed by Paul McCrorey out of hand.
In conclusion... I can say only this, consultation can most often avoid confrontation but alas McAlpine Construction don't seem to understand this.
